Journey of Hope: Lecture by Ian Davidson

May 12 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Through the eyes of a wood thrush? Yes, you heard right!

Join us at Birds Canada to hear Ian Davidson talk about Long Point, Birds Canada & what we do – MOTUS, breeding bird atlasses, the Conserva Aves program and more – all from the perspective of a wood thrush!

Ian Davidson’s professional journey as an ecologist started when he was researching migratory shorebirds in subarctic James Bay, and he gradually moved southward, tracking mammal populations in the boreal forest. In Nicaragua, he worked to protect the remaining vestiges of Caribbean rainforests and helped establish the Rio Indio Maíz Biological Reserve. With a degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Guelph and Queens, he has held leadership positions in wildlife, and bird conservation organizations throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. In 2019, after a decade working for a major conservation foundation in the U.S., he returned to BirdLife as the BirdLife International Regional Director, Americas and continues to work closely with a broad partnership of conservation organization in 21 countries, including with Birds Canada. Through the eyes of a Wood Thrush, Ian’s presentation will focus on the exciting work of the BirdLife Partnership throughout the Americas.
