Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Program

Wetlands are among the most valuable ecosystems in the world, supporting an incredible diversity of wildlife and providing essential habitat for birds and other species. Yet they face growing pressures from pollution, development, invasive species, and climate change. At the same time, there is a growing need for skilled people to conserve wetlands and the wildlife that depends on them.  

The Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Program, part of Birds Canada, conducts research that addresses timely conservation questions for birds and wetlands across the Great Lakes region. It also provides hands-on training for emerging wildlife technicians, biologists, and scientists. Established in the1980s, the program is a respected leader in high quality applied science for conservation.
