Birds Canada provides one-year grants for projects that help conserve birds. Grant support is available for projects that uncover knowledge, engage people, or take actions that protect birds. The Birds Canada Community Grant is funded with revenue generated by participants of the Birds Canada Birdathon, and has been funding projects since 1976 (previously as the Baillie Fund).
The program prioritizes supporting local, community-led projects from organizations that have limited access to other funding opportunities. Projects are typically awarded between $2,000 and $5,000.
Applications are accepted annually in September for projects taking place the following calendar year. Submit your application online by September 29th at 5:00 PM Pacific Time in either English or French. Please review all the information below before submitting your application, especially the eligibility criteria listed in the Applicant Guide, as changes may have been made since the last granting cycle.
Local community-led projects can create big results for birds when people have the support they need. This grant helps local groups learn, engage, and take steps that conserve birds and their habitats.
