Honouring Manoomin (Wild Rice): Rediscover Long Point's sacred food

Join us at Birds Canada in Port Rowan on October 29th for an afternoon of shared indigenous knowledge, culture, and traditional cultural processing of Manoomin. This event will be a unique and valuable opportunity to join Mark Sault, Knowledge Holder, teacher, and member of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, for an engaging cultural learning experience at Birds Canada.

Through teachings and hands-on demonstrations, participants will learn about the cultural significance of Manoomin (Wild Rice) and the traditional methods used to process this sacred food. Discover the connections between culture, community, stewardship, and the restoration of Manoomin in the Lake Erie region.

There will be an opportunity to explore the trails surrounding the Birds Canada Headquarters and complimentary snacks and light beverages will be provided.

Thank you to the Ontario Ministry of Food and Agriculture and knowledge holder Mark Sault for making this event possible.
