Swift Night Out (Kingsville, ON)

May 21 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Birds Canada is hosting a Chimney Swift roost monitoring event on May 21st in Kingsville, Ontario.

Come out for a chance to witness one of springtime’s most captivating aerial displays and contribute to meaningful community science! Join Natasha Barlow and Gabriel Evans-Cook, Ontario-based biologists at Birds Canada, for an evening of Chimney Swift conversation and conservation as we monitor a key roost site in Southwestern Ontario.

We’ll meet at Epworth United Church (56 Division St S, Kingsville, ON) at 8:00 PM. Feel free to bring your own coffee, tea, or snacks! Gabriel and Natasha will start the evening with a short talk about Chimney Swifts, their incredible migration journey, and the urgent need to monitor their declining populations through Birds Canada’s SwiftWatch program, a national citizen science effort that relies on volunteers to track swifts at nesting and roosting sites.

As dusk settles, we’ll hopefully witness dozens of swifts swirling overhead before they funnel into the church chimney to roost for the night. It’s a natural spectacle you won’t soon forget.

Everyone is welcome! No experience needed!
