Lappet-faced Vulture Photo: Ron Ridout

We did it!!! With incredible support from you, the Bird Studies Canada community, Team Canucks made a huge impact for Africa’s vultures through the Champions of the Flyway international birding race. Our team scooped up the Guardians of the Flyway award for the most money raised – over $15,000 CAD! – and the highly coveted Bill Thompson III Knights of the Flyway award for raising the most awareness about this year’s cause – vulture declines in Africa.
THANK YOU for all you have done to make a difference for vulture conservation! We truly appreciate your gifts for the cause, your enthusiasm to learn about one of the world’s most threatened groups of birds, and your efforts to spread the word!
We also extend a huge thank-you to our sponsors, Vortex Optics Canada, Eagle-Eye Tours, and the Canadian Raptor Conservancy.
Bird Studies Canada is proud to now be part of the Champions of the Flyway family. Thank you to the other teams and the competition organizers who united the international birding and bird conservation community for this important (and fun) event. Together, we raised an astounding $76,000 for vulture conservation!
If you haven’t given in support of Africa’s vultures yet and would like to, you can still give through the Team Canucks page: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/39648. You can also check out our previous Champions of the Flyway blog posts for more details on vulture conservation, the competition, and Team Canucks.

Sincerely,
Bird Studies Canada’s Team Canucks
