Join Project FeederWatch – a Fascinating Way to Help Birds!
If you have access to a birdfeeder and the internet, you can help Canada’s birds. As little as 15 minutes of your time between November and April will help scientists at Bird Studies Canada and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology learn more about the status of bird populations in North America through the Project FeederWatch Citizen Science program.

Twenty-four Years of Monitoring “Thunder-pumpers,” “Mud-hens,” and more!
In 2018, Bird Studies Canada’s Great Lakes Marsh Monitoring Program (GLMMP) celebrated something remarkable: the completion of nearly a quarter-century of bird, frog, and habitat surveys by hundreds of volunteer Citizen Scientists.
Funding Available for Canadian Bird Research and Conservation Projects
Bird Studies Canada is now accepting applications to the James L. Baillie Memorial Fund for the 2019 grant cycle. A portion of the money raised through our annual Great Canadian Birdathon is allocated to the Fund to provide grants to individuals or groups for projects that further bird research and conservation in Canada.
Alan Smith Recognized with Ludlow Griscom Award
Congratulations to Alan (Al) Smith on his receiving the 2018 Ludlow Griscom Award from the American Birding Association! This award is in recognition of “an individual who has dramatically advanced the state of ornithology in a particular region.”
