In our recently-published program newsletter (The Marsh Monitor) and 25th-anniversary program report, you can see many ways in which results of the efforts of volunteers with the Great Lakes Marsh Monitoring Program, specifically, have been put into action.

Join us for a virtual celebration of our feathery friends on October 3 through 10! We have an exciting line-up of online events this year, including a bird film screening, a rendezvous with rescued raptors, and a kids’ biodiversity collage contest.

One of the ways we give back to you is through BirdWatch Canada, our quarterly members’ magazine. Speaking on behalf of the editorial team, it is a huge privilege for us to report on the impacts we are all making for birds together.

This special presentation will reflect on progress made and provide a glimpse into the next 10 years of understanding, appreciation, and conserving wild birds in Canada. In addition, we will have a sneak peek of Dream Street Pictures’ new documentary ‘RARE BIRD ALERT’

Many Birdathon participants who would have normally gone out during spring migration have chosen to do their Birdathon in fall this year instead. Included in that category are some of our staff here at Birds Canada.

Researchers have estimated that collisions with windows kill approximately 25 million birds a year in Canada, and up to 1.5 billion a year across North America. Margaret McLaren, a long-term volunteer and supporter of Birds Canada in Bracebridge, ON, recently got in touch to share how she made her windows safer for birds.
