The Observatory Field Operations Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of migration monitoring, education, and training programs at Long Point Bird Observatory’s remote field stations (Breakwater and The Tip). This role includes leading and supporting people, coordinating logistics, maintaining facilities and equipment, and overseeing data collection, management, and reporting.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO is responsible for the financial stewardship of Birds Canada. This includes financial reporting, compliance, budgeting and forecasting, investment and asset management, overseeing audits, risk management, and oversight of payroll and accounts payable/receivable. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CFO leads the internal finance staff and manages key outsourced financial services.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice-President, Development and Philanthropy (VP) is a senior leader responsible for driving Birds Canada’s fundraising vision and strategy. This role leads the Development and Philanthropy team with clarity, decisiveness, and accountability, ensuring all fundraising aligns with the organization’s mission and Strategic Plan.
Seasonal volunteer internships are available at Birds Canada’s two bird observatories situated at two of Ontario’s foremost bird migration hotspots; Long Point Bird Observatory, on the north shore of Lake Erie, and Thunder Cape Bird Observatory which it operates in partnership with the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists on the north shore of Lake Superior, near Thunder Bay, Ontario.
