Welcome to MarshWatch – Newfoundland and Labrador Edition

MarshWatch is a free 8-week program to learn wetland birds and amphibians.
The content is suitable for participants of all skill levels. All are welcome!

The focus of this edition is on species occurring in Newfoundland and Labrador. Even if you don’t live in the province, you will find there is plenty of overlap in species from across North America!

MarshWatch is valuable for people of all skill levels as we will take our time with each species and also provide plenty of detail and tips for those tricky IDs. Virtual webinars will slowly build your identification skills without getting overwhelmed. The ultimate goal is to give you the skills to confidently submit checklists of birds from visits to wetlands of your choosing.

Live webinars take place every Monday evening, starting the first week in February and run for 8 weeks (minus March 16), until the last week of March. The webinars will be wrapped up well before the spring thaw which means you’ll be armed with all the information you need to visit wetlands as they melt and birds arrive – there really is no better way to learn than to be out with the birds.

Each webinar is recorded and posted online by the following Friday, so you can always catch up or view content at your own pace.
