Field Notes

The following species accounts were prepared by Bird Studies Canada for Ontario Nocturnal Owl Survey participants. Each account includes a map showing the breeding distribution of each species. Please keep in mind that these ranges are approximations based on data collected from the Ontario Nocturnal Owl Survey and the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas. Nevertheless, these maps will provide you with a good indication of which species you might expect to find in your area. Thanks to Jody Allair, Bill Allen, and Jim Flynn for the use of their wonderful owl photos.
