In June 2019, we sold our house, quit our jobs, and began walking 24,000 km across Canada along The Great Trail. Fewer people have completed this undertaking on foot than have gone to the moon.
Earlier this year, we announced that Sonya Richmond (until recently, a GIS analyst with Bird Studies Canada) and Sean Morton would be taking their lives in a dramatically new direction to hike across Canada for bird conservation. Did you wonder what it would be like to spend three years hiking the Great Trail? We can now put speculation aside because the hikers are on their way!
Dr. Sonya Richmond, a geographic information system analyst with Bird Studies Canada, has a passion for conservation. This passion has led her to sell her house and put her career on hold to spend three years walking The Great Trail (formerly the Trans Canada Trail) with her hiking partner, Sean Morton.
