It’s hard to believe that Birdathon month has come and gone! The 2022 Great Canadian Birdathon has already been a great success. So far, 445 registered participants have raised over $172,000, and there is still time to make a donation!

Did you participate yourself? And if so, did you beat your personal species count record? See a bird you were excited about? Or maybe you simply had a great day outdoors with friends or family? Maybe you sponsored one or more friends who were participating? We can’t thank you enough for your part in this achievement.

The proceeds contributed by participants and their sponsors advance bird conservation, research, and education through the work of Birds Canada and dozens of like-minded conservation organizations. That includes projects supported through the Baillie Fund. Click here to read about a recent Baillie Fund project in the western Andes of Colombia that raised awareness and established a survey of migratory birds – including the Canada Warbler!

In addition to thanking participants and their supporters, we would like to give a shout-out to the companies that have donated some truly wonderful prizes to be awarded in the Great Canadian Birdathon. Thanks to these special sponsors, all participants have chances to win an all-inclusive guided adventure with Eagle-Eye Tours, binoculars and spotting scopes from Vortex Canada and Kowa, or a year’s supply of bird seed from Armstrong Bird Food!

Please join us in thanking the individuals and teams who have worked so hard to help us help birds this year. And if you haven’t already doen so, we invite you to visit the Birdathon website, check out the fun and fabulous team fundraising pages, and sponsor someone today!
