Wasaga Beach Brewing Company selected the Piping Plover as their logo, and we absolutely love it! To celebrate the Piping Plovers, Bird Studies Canada is partnering with Wasaga Beach Brewing Company to host a Piping Plover photo contest.
From June 14-July 14, 2019, tag photos of yourself supporting Ontario’s Piping Plovers on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #LocalsSupportingPlovers to be entered in the draw. Photographs must be an original photograph of you showing your support for Piping Plovers, and must not be copied or purchased from the internet. The photograph must be tagged with #LocalsSupportingPlovers to be entered in the draw.
Two winners will be randomly drawn over the contest period. Contestants may enter once per entry period:
The first entry period runs from June 14, 6 a.m. EST to June 25, 11:59 p.m. EST, 2019. Prize winner will be drawn on June 26, 2019;
The second entry period runs from June 26, 6 a.m. EST to July 14, 11:59 p.m. EST, 2019. Prize winner will be drawn on July 15, 2019.
Winners will be announced on Twitter (@ontarioplovers) and Instagram (@birdstudiescan). Winners will also be privately messaged through the platform through which they shared their photograph. We will ask the winners for their mailing addresses so that we can send them their prizes – the mailing addresses will be used for that purpose only.
Each winner will take home a prize pack loaded with plover swag from the Wasaga Beach Brewing Company.

Each prize pack includes:
1 Top Quality Custom Plover Knapsack
1 Cooler Bag Bird Watching Folding Chair
1 Water Bottle
1 Utility Bag
1 Cooler Bag for Bottle
1 Beach Cup Holder
1 Pair of Sunglasses
PLUS, during the contest period visit the Beach Bar at Wasaga Beach and mention the contest to receive a FREE plover temporary tattoo! (one per person, while quantities last)
The contest is not affiliated with Twitter or Instagram, but is run by Bird Studies Canada. Rules may be subject to change. Prizes eligible for Ontario residents only.

So what does “Supporting Ontario’s Piping Plovers” look like? Here are a few ideas. Share a photo of yourself:

  • Visiting one of the nest sites at Wasaga Beach, Sauble Beach, or Darlington Provincial Park
  • Sporting a Piping Plover sticker, tattoo, or t-shirt
  • Looking for Piping Plovers on your local beach
  • Volunteering with the Ontario Piping Plover Conservation Program

Remember to use the hashtag #LocalsSupportingPlovers to enter!

A great example of a photo that could be entered in the contest with the hashtag #LocalsSupportingPlovers!
