Membership Inquiry Form

Canadian Migration Monitoring Network (CMMN)

To start a conversation with the CMMN about the membership process, first read through the membership information on this webpage and its associated links.

The next step is to complete this inquiry form with very brief answers and return it by email to this address. Inquiry imposes no obligation, and there are no right answers. The purpose of the questions is to help us understand the current status and ultimate goals of your operation, providing a starting point for discussion of how best to continue on the path to membership.

  • Your name and contact info:
  • Is your project underway or mostly aspirational? (If the latter, we’ll treat your remaining responses as preliminary.)
  • Project title
  • Primary goals of the operation (research question, education, recreation, etc.)
  • Where is the study site?
  • Have you investigated long-term site occupation with the land-owner?
  • Have you any administrative structure (such as in-house directors, or affiliation with a larger organization)?
  • Primary species targeted: (groups such as passerines, waterfowl, raptors; or specific species if aims are limited)
  • Dates of operation (start year, seasonal dates of operation), and frequency of coverage (daily? X days/week?)
  • Which of the following count methods do you employ:
    • capture and banding? (And if yes, do you have a personal or station banding permit?)
    • visual counts? (Indicate general type; e.g., fixed route census, timed watch from fixed point, recording of all incidental observations)
    • Other (briefly describe)
  • Do have written instructions for participants that detail how your data should be collected?
  • Do you aspire to participate in the CMMN’s Trend Monitoring Program?
  • Are you comfortable with rights and responsibilities of CMMN members as described in the Memorandum of Understanding?

Feel free to add anything else you think we should know right away.

Email your completed inquiry to  CMMN.RCSM@gmail.com, and we’ll do our best to respond within two weeks.   Thank you for getting in touch!
