Kianna Leung
Motus Technician
I first joined Birds Canada in 2022 as a summer field technician to assist with the expansion of the Motus Wildlife Tracking System in northeastern BC and I've been hooked on birds ever since! As the BC Motus Technician, my role primarily focuses on supporting the growth and utilization of the Motus receiver network in Western Canada. Prior to my current role, my passion for wildlife conservation led me to complete a BSc in Ecology at Simon Fraser University and more recently a Fish & Wildlife Diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Since joining the Motus team and Birds Canada, I've had the pleasure of working alongside dedicated Birds Canada staff, collaborators, and volunteers on migration connectivity tagging projects involving White-throated Sparrows and at-risk Bank Swallows.
