Birds Canada is proud to announce that President and CEO Patrick Nadeau has been appointed to the national Nature Advisory Committee by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

The Nature Advisory Committee is a group of experts with a range of perspectives. The mandate of the committee is to provide strategic advice and innovative solutions to advance progress under the Department’s nature mandate priorities.

“This is the decade to halt and reverse the loss of nature,” asserts Patrick Nadeau. “I look forward to this opportunity to support the Government in addressing urgent environmental priorities and achieving ambitious conservation gains.”

This committee will help to address some of the Department’s most pressing issues, including advancing the development of Canada’s post-2020 biodiversity strategy, working toward area‑based conservation targets such as conserving 25% of the lands and oceans in Canada by 2025 and 30 percent by 2030, and supporting wildlife and species at risk management initiatives. It will also provide innovative solutions and ideas on programs, operational policies, guidelines, and regulatory approaches to support Canada’s biodiversity progress.
