Join the Schoolyard Bird Blitz! Learn about your local birdlife, and contribute valuable Citizen Science observations. Each spring, students conduct this fun bird count in schoolyards and communities across Canada.

How to participate:

1. Get to know your local birds

Download and print your regional Photo ID Guide:
Western Canada (BC, AB)
Northern Canada (YT, NT, NU)
Central Canada (SK, MB)
Eastern Canada (ON, QC, Atlantic provinces)

2. Prepare for your Schoolyard Bird Blitz

Choose any day in May. A Bird Blitz can be as short as 15 minutes, a single period or block, or a full day. Download and print your Bird Tally and Quick Guide.

3. Go Birdwatching!

Use the Bird Tally to record your efforts and observations. Share your Schoolyard Bird Blitz with @BirdStudiesCan and #SchoolyardBirdBlitz

4. Be a Citizen Scientist!

Tally your bird list and report your observations to eBird Canada through the Schoolyard Bird Blitz online checklist.

Learn more about how you can help conserve birds at school and at home!
